The company SPV Pelhřimov has opened a modern pig fattening facility and new support facilities for the entire farm in Velké Němčice, South Moravia. “This is a state-of-the-art facility built on a greenfield site, setting new trends in modern livestock farming.” "A facility with this level of technical equipment is the only one of its kind in the Czech Republic," said Petr Coufal, CEO of SPV Pelhřimov, at the grand opening. The total investment in both buildings exceeded 160 million crowns.
A total of 4,536 pigs will be fattened in the new, modern facility. The farm now also has eight refurbished fattening sheds; the refurbishment took place in 2014 and 2018. The farm produces more than 40,000 pigs for slaughter every year.
Thanks to advanced automation, the entire farm is run by just five staff members. They have access to both pleasant working facilities, including new changing rooms, toilet facilities and offices, and state-of-the-art technology in the stables. A cleaning robot will assist with cleaning the stables, whilst heat pumps – which will extract heat from the slurry – will provide heating for the stables and staff facilities. The operation takes into account all the latest trends in the field of welfare. The welfare of the animals is our top priority. It also serves as a guarantee of the quality of the meat that will be processed at Kostelecké uzeniny.
“SPV Pelhřimov is part of the AGROFERT Group’s production chain, which ensures not only the highest quality of livestock farming and the subsequent production of meat products, but also clear traceability of the meat’s origin.” "Our aim is to support the local production of meat from Czech farms," adds Petr Coufal.
