Modern bakeries and years of experience — that’s Lieken

6. 5. 2026

The company Lieken, which is part of the AGROFERT Group, is one of the major players in the German bakery market. Thanks to its extensive production facilities, modern technology and high production efficiency, the company supplies baked goods to retailers in Germany and other European countries.

Technology and large-scale production

The company’s main strength lies in its technological infrastructure and its ability to produce in large volumes whilst maintaining consistency and quality. Lieken focuses on standardised and efficient production, which is key to supplying large retail customers.

Production lines enable high-capacity production whilst ensuring smooth operations, precision and quality control.

"One of our production lines in Wittenberg is approximately 300 metres long, 10 metres wide and 10 metres high. And a furnace like that can handle very large volumes in a minute. "If we experience even a 10-minute outage, we could lose as much as a ton of product," says Lieken director Christian Hörger.

The Lieken range includes sliced bread, pre-sliced bread and leavened baked goods. In addition to its own brands, which include in particular Golden Toast and Lieken Urkorn, the company also manufactures products for retail chains’ private labels.

Long-term partnership in the burger bun sector

Another key part of our production is the long-term supply of burger buns to German fast-food outlets. One of Lieken’s bakeries has been supplying baked goods to this sector for 50 years. The company currently supplies around half of the buns for the German market and, as part of its ongoing expansion, is preparing to launch a new production line in northern Germany.

The new production line is intended to build on the company’s existing experience whilst introducing more modern and environmentally friendly production solutions.

Further development: automation, digitalisation and line refurbishment

In the coming years, Lieken intends to focus on upgrading its production lines, increasing automation and making greater use of digitalisation and artificial intelligence. It is precisely the analysis of machine data that can help, for example, to improve preventive maintenance, boost production efficiency and enhance operational planning.
